Upacara Pernikahan di Masjid Al Aqsa: Babak Baru Yahudisasi?
Tensions are escalating at the Al Aqsa Mosque in East Jerusalem following the controversial permit granted by Israeli occupation forces for a Jewish wedding ceremony within the mosque's compound. This incident, widely condemned as a blatant violation of the mosque's sanctity, raises concerns about a systematic effort to change the status quo of the holy site.
On Monday, June 30th, 2025, a group of Israeli settlers, escorted by Israeli police, entered the Al Aqsa Mosque complex and held their wedding ceremony. The police deployed measures to prevent Palestinian residents from interfering with the event. Arab News reported that this act signifies a new chapter in the ongoing attempt to Judaize the Al Aqsa Mosque.
The Palestinian Authority's Jerusalem Governorate has strongly criticized the action, deeming it “provocative and humiliating.” In a press release, they state that transforming Al Aqsa into a venue for public celebrations by settlers constitutes a blatant violation of the mosque’s sanctity, a grave provocation to Muslim sentiments, and a deliberate attempt to impose a new reality that aims to erase the Muslim identity of the site.
The Jerusalem Municipal Council has also condemned the action, considering it part of a systematic policy intended to alter the Al Aqsa features and impose colonial dominion. They stress that these repeated encroachments violate international law and UNESCO resolutions recognizing the Al Aqsa Mosque as a site of Islamic heritage.
The Governorate is urging the international community and relevant UN bodies to take immediate action to halt the Israeli violations at Al Aqsa. They also demand protection be provided for both Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.

Tensions at Al Aqsa have been escalating recently. Israeli settlers frequently raid the complex, while Israel continues to restrict access for Muslim worshippers. Citing the security situation, Israeli forces have been known to close the mosque entirely, barring Muslim worshipers from entering, as reported by Middle East Monitor.
For instance, on June 22nd, 2025, Israeli forces closed down the Al Aqsa Mosque completely, prohibiting Muslim prayer until further notice, according to witnesses. Israeli authorities only permitted employees, workers, and guards to access the mosque, citing orders from the Israeli Internal Security Command. This action follows similar closures coinciding with Israeli attacks on Iran, further highlighting the volatile situation.
